VIKING strengthens Brazil presence

Denmark, August 8, 2011 – VIKING Life-Saving Equipment, the market leader in marine and offshore safety equipment, is gearing up in Brazil. Already strongly represented with its Brazilian head office and servicing station in Rio, the company announced it expanded its presence with a new branch in São Paulo’s Santos seaport on August 1, 2011.
Strategically located close to the harbor, and covering some 900 square meters of space, the new location currently offers liferaft servicing, with plans to introduce servicing for lifeboats, suits, lifejackets and marine fire service soon. The Santos branch will be led by local industry veteran Cristiano Borba.

Booking of service in Brazil is concentrated at VIKING’s center in Rio. For more information please contact Ms. Fernanda Lima.

The new branch is not the only boost to VIKING’s Brazilian operations, however. The company has announced the appointment of Mette Line Pedersen as its new sales director in Brazil. Mette Line joined VIKING Brazil as of 1 July, 2011, bringing with her an extensive offshore background including six years with VIKING in Singapore and three years in Aberdeen. She joins the executive team.

VIKING Vice President Hans-Henrik Madsen welcomes the addition of Mette Line Pedersen and the new branch, which he sees as further strengthening the company’s commitment to customer service.

“We put a lot of effort into understanding our customers’ core business so we can figure out what they need and where we need to be to help them. The new branch is a perfect complement to our existing business offerings, strengthening VIKING’s positioning as the safety experts. And it expands our dedicated global network of safety solutions, furthering our overriding objective of saving and protecting human lives all over the world,” Hans-Henrik Madsen says.
VIKING has further expansion moves on the drawing board for Brazil - an important and fast-growing market fuelled by the country’s increasing role in the offshore industry and global new building market.
